Michelle part deux

A giant blind-contour (4'x 5') that i first drew, then projected onto a wood panel to paint. I used acryclic and a lot of gesso

Her in her new home.

Lynda Bostrom has cordially invited me to be in a show with her & Anthony Zollo this October. This is really exciting news for me. I love both of their work greatly, so this will be an honor. I'll keep you guys posted on that.

Transitioning Mass

Our assignment was to create forms that change in mass.
My concept was to have something very organic gradually become more mechanized and geometric, and as it's transforming it loses life and becomes hard, compact, and essentially dead.

First Semester : Symbol

I liked the concept behind these. We had to make symbols, then apply them to something (like a pillow) and make a tradable (like a token).

We had to pick two cultures, and two relationships. I choose human society and nature as a culture, then picked war and peace from a list of given relationships. We had to make three symbols, using either an eye, heart, or hands, and represent the two polar opposites (war and peace) and a neutral.

This was the "peace". I wanted the hands to be in perfect harmony with nature in a way which makes the hands inseparable from the landscape, thus forcing them to become one.

I think it would be cool to do something nicer with this symbol..

Some forgotten things

From First Semester..

This kid

This is something i've been working on, on and off for the past month.
I still have a lot I want/need to do with it, but it's come a freaking long way.

It used to look like this..
And was from highschool. I found it lying around my room, and i considered throwing it away..but thought hey, i could do a little more to it. And that little more became a lot more, and now it's just completely different. It's only 4"x5", done on the inside cardboard of a cereal box with acryclic paints.

I like where it's going though..

Yak Illustration

Sketchbookage May-June

I tried to put them all in chronological order....

This (above) is a film still from the movie The Squid and The Whale

This last one I started drawing a few days ago..I want to work on it a lot more, crop it in some, and make it into a finished painting.

It's been over a month and I have a zillion things to scan in, including sketches, an illustration, and some finished paintings......but it will have to wait another few weeks until I can use the school's scanner, which sucks..but just expect a soon-to-be giant explosion of stuff.
